Takashima Ohisa was a celebrated beauty of 18th-century Edo, now modern-day Tokyo. She was the daughter of Takashima Chobei, the proprietor of a well-known chain of tea-houses and rice-cracker shops called Takashimaya. Takashima Ohisa is famously immortalized in numerous ukiyo-e woodblock prints by the artist Kitigawa Utamaro. Utamaro made a double-side full length portrait of Takashima Ohisa and we chose her name to fete both her beauty and Utamaro's double-surface creativity.
